Job Title: Finance and Donor Compliance Manager
Organization: Action Against Hunger Canada / Action contre la Faim Canada
Report To: Finance and Administration Director
Location: Toronto (Hybrid) or remote from elsewhere in Ontario or Quebec
Job Type: Full-Time, 1-year contract with a possibility of extension (sick leave coverage).
Start Date: September 2024
Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week. *(Flexibility is required to work outside regular office hours if needed.)
Salary: CAD 74K – 80K
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A university degree in a related field.
- Five years of experience in the financial management of project grants.
- CGA, CMA or CPA designation or equivalent in studies or experience (would be considered a strong asset).
- Previous experience with an international NGO (direct experience in the field would be considered a strong asset).
- Demonstrated project cycle management experience with the financial management of project grants.
- Demonstrated experiences working with donors’ compliances (GAC, USAID, SIDA).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
- Bilingual – French and English.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and follow up on recommendations for improvements that result in financial efficiency and improved performance.
- Solid knowledge of Electronic Financial Systems and MS Office Applications, with extensive understanding of Excel
- Ability to multi-task, establish and manage priorities of tasks and time management and strong organizational skills.
- Collaborative and consultative approach toward problem-solving.
- Ability to navigate complexity and convene team members across departments.
- Natural ability to teach and share knowledge with others to grow their skills and expertise.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstration of cultural awareness, diplomacy, and tact.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance and Donor Compliance Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for institutional donor compliance-related matters within the organization. It involves financial administration of donor contracts and agreements, design of effective financial tools, systems, and processes as well as delivery of expert advice to internal stakeholders for ensuring accurate project budgeting, tracking, reporting, and auditing throughout the project life cycle. The role also focuses on driving continuous improvements and developments in financial management of donor awards necessary for securing new institutional funding.
