About the role
Are you an enthusiastic Finance professional seeking a challenging role? If so, we want you to join our dynamic and supportive finance team as a Finance Business Partner on-site at AGL Macquarie (Hunter Valley NSW). In this role, you will play a pivotal part in providing management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions for the operation of the power station. Your expertise will assist management in making informed decisions for the success of our business. AGL supports hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please be advised however, that this role will require the individual to work 3 days on-site.

What you’ll be doing

  • Maintain labour reporting, including month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations or AGL Macquarie.
  • Lead month-end accounting and reporting processes ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in fulfilling half-yearly statutory reporting requirements.
  • Monitor key operational drivers and report on performance metrics.
  • Prepare annual budgets, five-year plans, and monthly forecasts.
  • Monitor actual expenditure, analyse, investigate, and report on variances.
  • Provide advice on the correct accounting treatment for expenses, capital expenditure, and revenue.
  • Prepare operational reports/dashboards for senior management and team leaders.
  • Assist in the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare capitalisation of capital projects.

What you’ll bring to the table

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline.
  • CA/CPA qualifications (or getting them)
  • Practical experience in an accounting role in similar or related businesses.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Proficient in an integrated IT financial system, such as SAP.
  • Superior analytical and conceptual skills.
