Description:

Job Introduction
Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services. The Councils are committed to being a customer driven organisation, with our customers at the heart of everything we do; focused on improving delivery services that make a difference to the community that we serve.
Bromsgrove and Redditch District Councils shared Finance service is on a journey. After being issued with a Section 24 notice in 2022, the Councils have been implementing an improvement programme to ensure they meet with statutory requirements and to build a finance function fit for the future.
Following the appointment of a new Head of Service, we are restructuring our Finance Services and are looking to build on the existing service provision with a number of key appointments.
Working directly to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational financial support and advice across service area(s) including the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) for Housing within the Council and be responsible for embedding a finance business partnering approach within these areas. This is a great opportunity for or someone currently in this kind of role or for those looking to take the next step in their career.
The Councils are committed to being a customer driven organisation, with our customers at the heart of everything we do, focused on improving delivery services that make a difference to the community we serve.
You will need to have a background in working within finance and be AAT qualified and be willing to train in HRA finance. We are looking for a passionate and resilient individual who can build strong working relationships within finance and across the organisation. You should be a highly motivated individual committed to achieving a high level of customer satisfaction within a quality finance function.
In return, the role offers a range of benefits including 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 29 after 5 years continuous local authority service), the ability to work flexibly and in an agile way and access to a range of benefits in terms of reward, wellbeing and development. Whilst we are advertising for a full-time post, we are prepared to consider alternative options for the right candidate.
No candidate will meet every single requirement – if your experience looks a little different to what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you.

The Councils offer a range of staff benefits:

  • pension
  • generous leave entitlements starting at 25 days plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
  • flexible working, where appropriate
