JOB DESCRIPTION
We are excited to be seeking an experienced and collaborative Senior Executive Officer (SEO) to join DESNZ Finance Directorate to deliver an insightful Professionalism function. This is a new role based within the friendly and industrious Efficiency, Controls and Finance Change team. This role will be pivotal in driving forward our change activity and ensuring the highest standards of financial professionalism across the department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Full or Part Accountant Qualification – CCAB, CIMA or equivalent

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functional Standard Stewardship: in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team and process owners, ensure that the Finance function remains compliant with the Government Finance functional (GFF) standards and career frameworks.
- Finance Change Management: in collaboration with process owners, provide flexible support to finance change projects that deliver continuous improvement to the Finance function and wider department as necessary. Develop change plans and then clearly communicate them.
- Financial Professionalism: Promote and embed a culture of financial professionalism across the department. Develop visibility of the Finance professional network within DESNZ, working with professionalism colleagues in wider teams such as ICS’ shared services and HR. Ensure that the Finance directorate has access to high quality and relevant learning and development opportunities, assisting the Chief Finance Officer in managing the Learning and Development budget. Provide support to individuals and their line managers to navigate financial professionalism policies and approvals i.e., accountancy allowances/accountancy training. Work with HR colleagues to provide oversight of Finance apprenticeships.
- Government Finance Function: develop and maintain a productive relationship with the GFF and act as a two-way bridge between GFF and the DESNZ Finance Directorate, including feeding back GFF activities to DESNZ and responding to GFF queries.
