EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • 4 to 5 years’ experience of practicing as a finance lawyer for an international law firm;
  • Significant finance subject-matter expertise, preferably with some DCM and securitisation experience;
  • High professional standards with a passion for delivering a quality product;
  • Excellent drafting and research skills;
  • Well-developed organisation and communication skills;
  • Understanding of different learning processes and methods of training;
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated and a good team player

Maintain, via the Firm’s “Global Knowledge Bank (GKB)” practice-related knowledge resources, which include in particular standard forms and accompanying notes, precedent documents, best practices and how-to memos, legal research documents and other materials useful to the Group, as-well as other relevant resources;

  • Maintain knowledge-related aspects of the Group’s intranet site

Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Head of Knowledge Management – Europe, and indirectly to the Global Chief Knowledge Officer and partners of the London Finance Practice this role will also work closely with the London Finance Knowledge Counsel.
This role requires an experienced junior to mid-level lawyer who will help to develop the Knowledge Strategy for the Finance Practice in the UK (“the Group”) and implement projects to meet the Group’s knowledge needs; monitor developments in the legal and business environment in order to keep both the Group and its clients up to date; provide legal and practical expertise to support the Group’s practice; create, develop and manage the Group’s collection of standard forms, precedents and research materials; organise, design and deliver Group training; and provide other support as needed.
Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business. Happy to talk flexible working.
Responsibilities:
Current Awareness, Know-how and Thought Leadership

Monitor and keep the Group informed about important developments in relevant law or business environment;

  • Assist with keeping the Group’s legal opinions and related manuals up to date;
  • Monitor and keep the London Finance Knowledge Counsel informed about key developments affecting the firm’s key clients and work with them to plan client alerts that are highly relevant;
  • Help prepare and co-ordinate legal and market updates for the Group’s clients;
  • Support partners in the Group on publications, articles, client alerts, speeches and other thought leadership initiatives;

    • Work with the Information Centre and London Finance Knowledge Counsel in relation to resource related matters.
      Organising and Sharing: Standard Forms, Document Collections, Knowledge Resources

Maintain, via the Firm’s “Global Knowledge Bank (GKB)” practice-related knowledge resources, which include in particular standard forms and accompanying notes, precedent documents, best practices and how-to memos, legal research documents and other materials useful to the Group, as-well as other relevant resources;

  • Maintain knowledge-related aspects of the Group’s intranet site;

    • Work with Group members to create new and improve existing processes to capture practice-related knowledge content and encourage the sharing of information and knowledge generally.
      Lawyer Training and Technical Expertise

Work with the Group and the Learning and Development team to identify practice-related training needs and assist with meeting those needs and advise internally on technical legal issues;

  • Develop and deliver legal training for associates to assist them with locating practice-related internal and external knowledge.

Group Projects

  • Maintain projects established, and under development, by the London Finance Knowledge Counsel to meet the Group’s knowledge needs.

Other
Participate in regular meetings of the Knowledge Lawyer/Counsel function and Knowledge Department and liaise with other Knowledge Lawyers/Counsel to facilitate the sharing of best practice and knowledge;

- Provide other knowledge support to the Group as may be assigned by the Leaders of the Group, the London Finance Knowledge Counsel, or the Head of Knowledge Management (Europe).
Qualifications:
The candidate must be England and Wales qualified.
The candidate must have attained his or her law degree from a reputed institution, achieving a minimum grade of 2.1 or equivalent.
