ABOUT THE TEAM AND THE ROLE

At Ocado Retail our Finance team plays a critical role in supporting the business to drive forward. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager in the Accounting Centre of Excellence, the Finance Manager will be pivotal in delivering month-end processes and ensuring integrity and controls of our financial data are delivered to our key finance stakeholders.
The Finance Manager - Accounting Centre of Excellence will lead a team of 3 (a Senior Finance Analyst and 2 Finance Graduates) to deliver our balance sheet and P&L month-end processes with a focus on our Stock, Fixed Assets and Operational Cost base. The role will support the Senior Finance Manager to deliver continuous improvement initiatives across the team, and ensure adequate reviews and approvals are carried out to support the overall delivery of a WD2 month-end close for M&S consolidation in April-25.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Ownership of P&L and Balance Sheet Processes - Take responsibility for the completeness of the P&L and Balance Sheet at month-end, ensuring processes are followed according to the month-end timetable and being responsible for the preparation of the P&L and Balance Sheet. Review and approve month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations to support efficiency of the overall close process.
  • Key Focus Areas - This role will be supported by their team to have ownership of the accounting for Stock, Fixed Assets and Operational Costs, delivering improvement projects in each of the 3 areas. Transforming our Stock & Operational Costs processes to support a faster MEC process as part of the M&S Consolidation project ahead of April-25 is critical, improving both the efficiency and the quality of our processes and financial reporting.
  • Finance to Finance Business Partnering - Finance Business Partnering teams will be the key stakeholders of the Accounting Centre of Excellence team and this role will be vital in ensuring the ways of working with business partners are effectively managed through the team and enabling our business partners to drive high-quality decision making to support business strategy.
  • Lead and Develop the Team - A key principle of the Accounting Centre of Excellence is to develop the team to be experts in project management and delivery, continuous improvement and a core finance skillset. This role will play a key role in supporting the Senior Finance Manager to instil that environment in the team and to focus on the development of the 3 team members in delivering their own projects and developing their continuous improvement mindsets.
