PavCo is the owner and operator of two of Canada’s premier venues for events, BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre.
BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) is hiring a full-time permanent Finance Manager to join their team at BC Place.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the Finance Manager will leverage their understanding of the operations to provide guidance and consult to a venue or business unit. The Finance Manager is expected to positively collaborate with leadership and operational teams across PavCo to support strategic outcomes, streamline processes and procedures, ensure compliance to financial and organizational policies, report and highlight key financial results and generally support a culture of excellence.
This position will require the Finance Manager to work at events on evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the finance department at BC Place Stadium, including receivables, collections, compliance, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and provide financial analysis support.
- Plan and conducts preliminary to final settlement of large event transactions with international clients and partners representing PavCo’s community and financial best interests at all times.
- Accounting duties include delivering, reconciling event billing, collections, review and posting G/L and sub-ledger entries.
- Account reconciliation, maintaining working papers to accommodate dynamic business models.
- Ensures managers and other senior leaders’ complete revenue related service orders, margin expectations and risks are identified, streamlining event requisitions to align with account payable timelines, training and other support.
- Oversees annual audit to ensure timely and efficient completion.
- Manages and builds relationships with service providers including shared services teams, insurance, auditors, clients, partners, and other advisors.
- Recommends and directs action of staff on financial matters with respect to client issues, landlord/tenant issues, partners, and contracts with suppliers.
- Gives guidance on leases, building recoveries, official supplier agreements, client contracts and sponsorship agreements.
- Provides business and financial scenario analysis support to event and sales management teams.
- Forecasting/Budgeting - Works with site finance leads to develop projections using forecasting tools and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts and budgets.
- Month End Reporting – responsible for coordinating and reviewing monthly P&L, event statements, KPI’s, executive financial information, and conducts variance analysis against budget to identify spending trends to operational leads.
- Manages current financial collection processes and adapts to improving workflow efficiencies to ensure dynamic revenues and expenses are complete under sensitive deadlines.
- Provide backfilling duties as needed to departmental teams seconded to new projects.
- Provide 2026 FIFA World Cup event settlement support as needed.
