JOB SUMMARY
The Regulation Directorate Support Team provides effective, consistent and value-adding support services to all colleagues in the directorate. We aim to plan activities and organise information in the best ways to support Senior Leadership Team (SLT) decision-making and ensure all colleagues can perform their roles in the most efficient way possible. We help solve problems and focus on continuous improvement to make things work better.
The Finance Manager role within the team is essential for integrating directorate-level financial management processes. It offers a chance to establish consistent, value-adding finance processes and standards, and identify opportunities to improve the quality, accuracy and timeliness of financial management information to support senior decision-making.
The Finance Manager will serve as the directorate’s lead for all financial management processes including the Purchase to Pay (P2P) cycle from requisitions to invoice payment, developing best practice and promoting innovation and continuous improvement in their delivery. This role involves significant stakeholder management: key relationships outside of the Directorate Support Team include Finance Business Partners (FBP); Deputy Directors; and G6 Policy Leads. The role holder would also be part of a developing business management community across the Competitions, Markets and Regulatory Reform (CMRR) Group and wider DBT, leading the provision of financial information to DBT’s central Finance colleagues as part of day-to-day activity and significant fiscal events such as Spending Reviews.
This role reports directly to the G6 Head of Directorate Management and is expected to develop close working relationships with both the FBP for CMRR Group, as well as acting as an integral member of the Directorate Support Team. There are excellent opportunities to contribute to wider team objectives and corporate activities, with full and varied support for personal development aspirations.
