Description:
Applications are solicited for the position of Finance Officer/Accountant at the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI), Vienna, Austria. The JVI – an international organization – is a regional training center created in 1992 by Austria, the International Monetary Fund, and several other international organizations. The JVI’s objective is to train public sector officials from countries in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and other selected countries. Drawing on its long-standing partnerships and the expertise of its member organizations, the JVI offers a unique set of courses, seminars, and workshops, mostly in the area of economics.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant educational background in finance, accounting, or a related field, accountancy certificates (e.g. Buchhalterprüfung) are a clear advantage
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping and accounting (experience with IFRS is a plus)
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel
- Fluency in English and German
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a small and dedicated team
Responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping and Accounts Payable/Receivable:
- Independent handling of daily bookkeeping
- Continuous recording and review of incoming invoices, management of accounts payable, bank transactions, and correspondence with suppliers
- Preparation of outgoing invoices
- Tax and Payroll:
- Preparation of claims for VAT refunds
- Assistance with payroll processing and, after successful onboarding, independent handling of ongoing payroll tasks
- Financial Reporting:
- Contribution to the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS (e.g., creating accrual entries)
- Support for the Finance Manager in conducting economic analyses and financial controlling
- Budgeting:
- Assistance in the preparation of the annual budgets
- Other responsibilities:
- Cover the responsibilities of the Finance Manager in his absence
- Active participation in process management within the finance department
- Miscellaneous financial tasks related to course administration and ad-hoc tasks
