POSITION SUMMARY
Centennial College is hiring a dynamic, detail-oriented Finance Officer for our Financial Planning and Analysis team. As the Finance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the budget planning, monitoring, and reporting processes. This includes assisting with various analyses for quarterly closings, forecasting, and year-end closing and reporting.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning Analyst, the incumbent will be involved in the entire budget process, from template preparation to the consolidation of the college-wide budget submission. The Finance Officer will provide insights on business performance through effective analysis of financial and operational data, helping to influence business decisions and overall financial performance.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- 2-year diploma in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Office Administration or equivalent education acceptable to the College.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in financial analysis and accounting
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Banner Elusion and Workday Adaptive Planning knowledge is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Generally Accepted Account Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to work with large datasets with high competency with large financial systems and data management
- Possess strong communication (verbal/written) skills; ability to communicate complex and sensitive financial data with a non-financial audience
- Strong interpersonal and customer service orientation
- Strong understanding and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to manage competing deadlines and changing priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Senior Finance Planning Analyst and Finance Planning Analyst to prepare the budget templates in the Adaptive Planning tool, and to test the planning tool thoroughly before opening up for budget holder inputs.
- Reconcile information & data feed from banner system to the planning tool and compare planning tool calculation to Banner.
- Prepare quarterly financial statements and analysis, revenues and expense schedules, and provide detailed commentary to explain the results
- Prepare working schedules for quarter-end and year-end financial reports and for the audit of the financial statements. Analyse actual results versus budget and present the findings and commentary in the reporting format required by Senior.
- Assist in quarterly financial brief report for budget holders.
- Conduct various analysis using financial and non-financial data to support data driven decision making.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders; provide financial support and guidance to college budget holders
- Other duties as assigned
