About the Finance Specialist Role
As a Finance Specialist with our client, you’ll be part of the growing Finance team ensuring that they create a digitally-enabled finance function that prepares accurate books and records of the company and uses financial data to challenge the business and contribute to operational decision making.
Your primary duties will include managing a team to ensure all finance and accounting duties are completed on-time and accurately, ensuring continuous improvement to processes, and supporting leadership by providing insightful financial information to aid in operational and strategic decision making.

Requirements

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within a multinational business or top tier accounting firm, and have mastery of IFRS accounting standards (US GAAP a plus)
  • You have a CPA, CA, or ACCA qualification (or similar accounting qualification for your jurisdiction)
  • You are highly proficient in MS or Google productivity tools
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Nigeria
  • You have fantastic written and spoken communication skills
  • You are able to work collaboratively across departmental functions
  • You have strong knowledge of internal controls and financial reporting
  • You have the appetite to jump headfirst into a fast-moving, fast-growing, mission-driven team that values creativity and output
  • You have the ability to turn data sets into meaningful insights

While this is NOT strictly required, it would be a plus if you:

  • Have previous experience in the social enterprise or healthcare startup
  • Have experience with QBO

  • Managing recurring finance and accounting duties, including but not limited to:
  • Month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing on Quickbooks Online (QBO)
  • Monthly management reporting
  • Monthly tax compliance
  • Monthly payroll
  • Weekly processing of vendor payments and expense reimbursements
  • Work with external auditors to perform the annual audit in Nigeria
  • Weekly and monthly project reports
  • Interface with team members in various departments, including the engineering, operations, and clinical teams to ensure finance visibility and collaboration
  • Support overall department goals and objectives
  • Fulfill other ad-hoc finance requests as requested by management
