Are you an experienced finance professional with a passion for accuracy and attention to detail? HMP Addiewell are seeking a dedicated Finance Team Leader to join our team and provide essential support to the Business Manager.

What We Are Offering:

  • Salary around £35,000 depending on experience.
  • 37.5-hour week, Monday to Friday.

What the Job Looks Like:
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our finance department, ensuring the smooth management of prisoner cash and other financial activities.
As a Finance Team Leader at HMP Addiewell, you will be at the forefront of our finance operations, working closely with the Business Manager and internal departments to support the prison’s financial activities. You will handle high volumes of daily transactional processing, ensuring all cash-related transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled on our CMS system. Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly journals, financial reports, and balance sheet reconciliations related to prisoners’ cash, bank, purchase orders, and suppliers.
You will play a crucial role in maintaining accounting controls, policies, and compliance, continuously reviewing, and improving working practices to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. Additionally, you will manage and develop finance staff, promoting a culture of excellence and personal growth. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders will be key, as you handle queries, complaints, and correspondence, ensuring a professional and positive approach at all times.

The Ideal Candidate:

Ideals:

  • Part-qualified accountant or studying towards a recognised financial qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, ICAEW, or other UK recognised professional bodies).
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of working with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Previous experience in cash reconciliation and cash management.
  • Strong communication skills, offering a professional and positive approach.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and driven.
  • Commitment to personal development and participation in training as required.

Desirables

  • Previous experience in a custodial environment
  • Experience in managing staff.
