We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Financial Accountant - Asset Management.
This role is related to the Alternative business within Asset Management, and will be supporting the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). The role will be based in London as it is a critical for the individual to be part of the wider HSBC alternatives asset management team who are all based in London. The alternatives business is growing at a rapid pace.
In the longer term, we expect this role to be offshored and then for you to take on responsibilities of the Financial Controller of the UK Asset management entities.

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure that the private equity, real estate and hedge fund ranges are appropriately accounted within the books of HMG. This includes ensuring appropriate accruals are made for management fees and related expenses and providing good statistical information to the business to help them understand the financial position of HMG.
  • Maintain a robust financial control and reconciliation function by ensuring that balance sheet accounts are appropriately reconciled, and all transactions can be supported by the appropriate evidence.
  • You will also be involved in projects, such as new fund launches, regulatory and IFRS related changes.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities as you be required to have oversight over outsourced work and to deliver change in a demanding environment.
  • You will also get the opportunity to get to know the financial accounting of various fund ranges within HSBC Asset Management, giving them exposure to different business models and processes.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience within asset management or audit within financial services or professional services.
  • Thorough working knowledge and experience of IFRS.
  • Experience with financial statements, internal reporting and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the numbers to life (e.g., presenting).
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority and geographies).

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
