JOB SUMMARY:

To efficiently and accurately manage financial accounting for Dalkia Operations Ltd (Scotland)
The aims and objectives of the role will be to execute on key responsibilities and accountabilities listed below which will support Dalkia in maintaining its market-leading status within the industry.
Duties:

The Financial Accountant shall have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ensuring accuracy of the trial balance including revenue recognition, provisioning, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries in line with applicable accounting standards
  • Preparation of Dalkia Scotland monthly management accounts comprising income statement, balance sheet and cash flows (including appropriate variance analysis) in line with Group timetables
  • Preparation of annual Budgeting and Forecasting activities including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow projections in line with Group timetables
  • Preparation of monthly board packs and quarterly ‘Performance Review’ documents (board level); undertaking reviews with stakeholders as appropriate
  • Treasury management including banking / payment set-ups for onwards approval
  • Support with new contract (customer) and purchase account (suppliers, sub-contractors) set-up within the accounting system
  • Planning and compliance with statutory returns and accounting regulations including:
  • Annual statutory financial statements for each legal entity
  • Annual corporation tax returns
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Monthly CIS returns
  • Other ad-hoc returns (as required by the Finance Director)
  • Manage the year-end audit process for all legal entities
  • Monitoring compliance within banking and Group funding covenants set, ensuring they are part of the budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Undertake reviews and publish of company-wide policies and procedures to support financial processes and controls
  • Complete comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Supporting with capex investment appraisals
  • Ensuring documentation is in place for internal controls and assisting with the preparation of Senior Accounting Officer (‘SAO’) return documentation
  • Working with various departments and supporting the business with ad-hoc costing and financial support where required
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required by the Finance Director

Requirements:
This role will suit a wide-ranging candidate profile of varying levels of ability and experience.
The knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience relevant to the position are as follows:

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience in a large-scale organisation
  • Previous experience in a finance role within the construction sector
  • Prior exposure to tax returns, other statutory returns & year-end reporting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Business Central ERP
