Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Accountant will play a key role in the finance and accounting operations for Great Canadian Casino Resort, Pickering Casino Resort, and Great Blue Heron Casino and Hotel. This position supports the management of financial functions including balance sheet reconciliation, the financial month-end close process, financial reporting, and compliance with policies and procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with theatre management team, business units, and external partners to ensure efficient and accurate financial reporting related to theatre and event accounting.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Record weekly theatre journal entries (JE) to capture ticket sales, facility fees, service charges and credit card processing fees.
- Prepare and process settlement packages for all shows/events and prepare relevant JE close entries
- Coordinate with the accounting departments at Live Nation and Ticketmaster to ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliation.
- Organize and maintain receipts, invoices, and other documentation related to events, shows, and concerts.
- Monthly reconciliation of Theatre bank account and preparation of month-end accrual entries.
- Act as a liaison between theatre management team and other relevant departments (F&B, Security, Accounts Payable) ensuring effective communication and collaboration
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls to streamline theatre accounting across all sites.
- Assist with ad-hoc finance-related initiatives as required.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Junior Accountant or Financial Analyst, preferably in a high-volume, large or medium-sized organization.
- Experience Hospitality and Entertainment Industry is considered an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities.
- Solution-oriented with a strong ability to think creatively and resolve challenges effectively.
- Ability to be self-direct and take initiative while working independently and remaining focused on an assignment through to delivery.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and consistently meeting deadlines.
