The Financial Accountant will take a hands-on role in the accounting operations and financial reporting of the Castlebar facility. This key role helps ensure complete and accurate financial information internally and statutorily as well as contributes to the enhancement of accounting processes and controls; and supports the Global Finance and Accounting team and Castlebar facility cross functionally.
This individual should be a self-starter, have strong financial accounting technical skills and experience, be a problem solver, well organized and a driver of efficiency, and have the ability to manage others and processes, work independently and collaborate at all levels within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified ACCA/ACA/CPA.
  • Ideally 3-5 years post qualified experience in a manufacturing industry related role.
  • Financial and Management Accounting background.
  • Experience in analysing financial data and report preparation & presentation, knowledge of Irish GAAP.
  • Intermediate to advance Excel skills.
  • Strong accounting knowledge of AP, AR, Inventory & GL, and month-end close.
  • Critical and effective problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work on one’s own initiative to resolve competing priorities and with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to adapt to change are key to this role.
  • Be a strong team member with the ability to identify and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Experience in D365 would be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

General Ledger & Fixed Assets

  • Contribute to month-end close and related duties.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Debt analysis and reconciliation.
  • Maintain intercompany schedule and related interest charges.
  • Analyse G&A allocations to other cost centers.
  • General account analysis, investigation, and reconciliation, as required.
  • Prepare journal entries for approval and posting.
  • Maintain fixed asset master, reconciliation to GL, and prepare depreciation expense.
  • Provide and review inventory cost reports and assist in the inventory cycle counting process and related reconciliation back to the general ledger.
  • Provide support for other corporate entity transactions.

Financials & Internal Controls

  • Facilitate the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standards.
  • Coordinate with FP&A and assist on forecast, budget preparation and analysis.
  • Perform monthly financial statement analysis and change causal investigations and communicate on such matters as needed.
  • Collaborate in financial consolidation file maintenance and enhancements.
  • Continuously assess the accounting system effectiveness and drive improvements.
  • Create, test and maintain internal controls and related documentation.
  • Liaise with financial statement auditors, prepare client schedules, and provide requested supporting documentation.

Tax Reporting

  • Facilitate preparation of tax returns.
  • Provide external tax accountants with tax return supporting documentation, as requested.

Purchasing & Other

  • Review purchase requisitions to ensure appropriate GL coding and verify larger purchases have been accessed by Senior Management.
  • Ad hoc projects and reporting, as required.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications.
  • Prepare and Submit CSO returns and other required returns.
