THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a talented Financial Accounting Team Lead to join our Financial Accounting Team. The Financial Accounting Team Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day accounting operations. This role is based in Brisbane.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years’ Accounting experience
  • Accounting/Finance degree
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience in a Big 4/mid-tier accounting firm coupled with experience across a large commercial business preferable
    Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive knowledge in Accounting and financial control and financial reporting tools
  • Problem solving, drive for results and decision quality
  • Strong focus on process improvement
  • Strong excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Lead a team of Financial Accountants
  • Contribute to the training, development and growth of the team
  • Review of team (and at times project) journals and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct regular process reviews to ensure compliance with Enterprise standards
  • Liaising with various areas of the business, both local and international
  • Co-ordinate the End-of-Year financial statement preparation and consolidations
  • Co-ordinate the annual external audit
  • Participation in projects that require Financial Accounting expertise
  • Provision of Accounting advice to various areas of the business
  • Perform any other duties, assigned by the Finance Manager, Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer
