Role Title
Financial Analyst (15 Month Contract)
Purpose of role
The Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis will play a key role in supporting a team that manages the finances for the enterprise including the tracking of key metrics, business casing and benefits realization. This position requires strong skills in advanced Excel, Power BI, and VBA macros, and will involve working with complex financial models.
Job Description
Key responsibilities/accountabilities
- Foster strong relationships with business partners and conduct financial analysis on an ongoing basis to help identify and provide actionable performance metrics, unit costing, regular management information, and business plans related to new and proposed changes.
- Assist in developing the sales planning and budgeting of the financial objectives by building and maintaining financial models and analytics.
- Assist in creating, refining and maintaining allocation and unit cost models that help us better understand profitability of products, processes and business units.
- Utilize advanced excel functions including power pivots, macros and VBA scripts to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
- Create and maintain power BI dashboards for data visualization and reporting.
- Participate in quarterly and year-end expense close processes and reporting.
- Support the identification of future needs through forecast/projection models as they relate to key business metrics (e.g. staff resourcing, service levels, operational and strategic projects, etc.).
- Assist in designing and developing analytical tools to support the management decision making process.
- Conducts analysis of progress to plan, highlighting pertinent information including variances and trends and assists the Manager in the formulation of recommendations to senior management.
Key qualifications/competencies
- University Degree in Business or Commerce Degree; Professional Accounting designation (CPA), MBA or equivalent financial institution experience.
- Proven experience as a financial analyst or similar role.
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience of direct experience in advanced MS Excel modelling.
- Prior experience with Macros, VBA, Power Query, Power Pivots, and Power BI experience is a pre-requisite.
- Strong analytical and technical skills including hands on experience in the development of various financial models.
- Excellent ability to multi-task and respond to constantly changing needs and priorities.
- Ability to effectively work under tight timelines and prioritize deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
- Demonstrated ability to work equally well in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
- Enthusiastic individual who possesses flexibility and team commitment.
- Solid customer service orientation.
- Proactive and highly motivated individual who will take the initiative to get things done.
- Ability to gather information and systematically analyze the information.
