Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in university, governmental, or commercial accounting or financial administration; graduation from university with major course work in accounting or finance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Completion, or working toward completion of an accounting designation is an asset. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in MS suite of office products, in particular Excel, and experience creating and using databases is required. Experience with other financial accounting software including Banner Finance and FAST are an asset.
SALARY $54,770 - $82,150 per annum (Management and Professional)

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Finance, Faculty of Medicine, the successful applicant will perform professional accounting work in the Faculty of Medicine. Duties include: preparing or assisting in complex financial and strategic analysis for inclusion in documents such as: briefing notes budget submissions and reports for the Department of Health and Community Services, the University, accreditation and national reporting requirements; monitoring budgets/accounts (operating/grants), taking corrective action as required; conducting internal audit activities; assessing and implementing internal controls; documenting accounting issues; reviewing historical documents to conduct trend and variance analysis; analyzing accounts, preparing reports, and performing account reconciliation analyzing existing shared services agreements (both internal and external); monitoring financial transactions for compliance with university policies and procedures; performing internal reviews, assuming special projects, liaising with and advising staff within Medicine on a variety of financial matters; assisting or providing support on grant accounts or grant related issues; and performing other related duties as required.
