Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Financial Analyst is a key member of the finance team responsible for leading all aspects of project revenue accounting. Duties include reviewing contracts, evaluating project revenue criteria and determining project setup, reporting on project performance and key metrics, and assisting with monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting, including participation in budgeting and forecasting. The Financial Analyst will work closely with multiple departments to ensure the integrity of the financial reporting. This position requires strong accounting knowledge, Excel skills, attention to detail, a positive professional attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are in the process or have completed their CPA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years combined experience in full cycle accounting and financial reporting/analysis.
  • Superior knowledge of Excel and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to embrace technology for continuous improvements.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, strong commitment to meeting deadlines, and effective decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with high credibility at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivator with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial reports and dashboards for Executive team;
  • Variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts;
  • Develop reports and track project performance, revenue, cost and inventory for the manufacturing business line
  • Responsible for on time month-end/quarter-end/year-end close process, including preparation or review of:
  • Journal entries;
  • GL leadsheets, account reconciliations, and continuity schedules;
  • Sales tax filings (HST/QST/PST)
  • Payroll reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Understand and assist the review of subleger accounting entries by work closely with AR, AP, and the Project Accounting team;
  • Responsible for transactions relating to joint venture accounting:
  • Ensure agreements are in place and setup properly in the system
  • Coordinate with project accountants and project managers for accurate financial information
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly published financial statement and MD&A
  • Participate in the development of fiscal year budgets and forecasts to meet business goals;
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS guidance, the Company’s accounting policies, and internal control procedures;
  • Support management in completing financial reports, special projects, and analyses;
  • Proactively look for innovative processes & reporting improvements.
