Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a motivated self-starter with superior accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, to join our Finance team in Toronto. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Strategy and Financial Analysis.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily/monthly/quarterly P&L reporting.
- P&L and Balance Sheet analysis and providing commentaries.
- Perform various account reconciliations and posting accounting entries.
- Prepare monthly operating reports for management including development and analysis of performance metrics and review of budget variances.
- Assist in various specialized projects relating to financial analysis, management reporting, and public reporting.
- Work closely with Finance colleagues to provide financial insight and reports in connection with special projects and ad-hoc analysis.
- Develop, prepare and maintain reports/dashboard using Power BI/Power Query/SQL.
- Work closely with Business Intelligence, Database Administration and other teams in IT group to access the corporate database and address enquiries regarding business logic in SSRS reports, SQL Queries, Power BI models.
- Troubleshoot and provide maintenance to the existing Power BI reports and models.
- Proactively seek continuous enhancement in internal controls over financial transactions, management reporting and financial reporting.
- Be a key asset within the Finance team, with proficiency in Excel, Power Point, Power BI and various other systems and applications.
- Ad-hoc analysis and support as requested by management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA/CFA holder or actively working towards an accounting designation preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) skills are essential.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, SSRS, SQL or related tools (e.g. Tableau, Python, R, SAS, etc.) are essential.
- 1-3 years of experience in a finance/accounting or business analyst role in a large organization.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- An effective ability to collect, organize, analyze and circulate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a focus on driving results and strong sense of accountability.
