Description:

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for financial planning and analysis for FirstService Residential’s West Region division, covering the California, Nevada, and Arizona markets. This position plays a critical role as an integrated member of the Finance team. The ideal candidate will have prior financial experience, including developing metrics-based sales and spending projections, analyzing business performance, and providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
This role requires an ambitious, self-directed, and curious individual who can work independently or collaboratively with the broader leadership team to achieve the company’s business and financial goals. The position combines recurring responsibilities with project-based initiatives, offering significant exposure to department and company leadership.
Compensation: $75-90k
FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client’s property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client’s directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

  • High degree of business acumen and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting procedures, and quantitative principles
  • Must be able to synthesize large sets of data and information into actionable, concise recommendations and analyses.
  • Adaptable in using organizational skills to prioritize tasks and take ownership of various projects; comfort and ability to deliver results in a flexible, fast-paced work environment. The ability to juggle multiple deadlines and internal customers simultaneously.
  • Ability to anticipate busy schedules and communicate with other members of the organization/department to complete assignments on time regardless of physical location.
  • Demonstrated integrity in research/analysis and commitment to quantitative accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with CFO, CEO, & other functional leaders
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two plus years of relevant professional experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting preferred

The work environment characteristics are normal office conditions at an office location. Hours over and above normal office hours will occur, including evenings, holidays, and some weekends. Schedule is subject to change based on business needs.

Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the annual business planning process by creating, maintaining, and presenting budgets and forecasts. Collaborate with cross-departmental leadership to ensure accurate capture of budgeted initiatives. Prepare narratives and presentations to effectively communicate key information to local and national executive leadership teams.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support business decisions and initiatives. Analyze, frame, and communicate future performance projections, risks, and opportunities. Sample projects include designing annual bonus and incentive plans, evaluating new business opportunities, reporting on operational performance and KPIs, conducting M&A analyses, and performing pricing-related analysis and benchmarking.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to financial planning accuracy and efficiency. Provide early warnings for deviations in projected performance, alert management to business trends, and assist in decision-making processes to optimize business outcomes.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of source systems to extract financial information for analysis and reporting. Conduct thorough data investigations to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist, as needed, Contracts team with responsibilities such as drafting and reviewing contract language in collaboration with Legal, ensuring negotiated terms align with operational processes, and maintaining compliance. The role also involves gathering, analyzing, and inputting client and contract data for tracking new business, renewals, and terminations, as well as managing the billing setup process and monitoring contracts throughout their lifecycle. Regular auditing and reconciliation of contract data and billing as needed, along with close collaboration with Corporate Accounting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist the Corporate Accounting team with month-end variance analysis.
  • Create, maintain, and update company dashboards on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis to establish a reliable “source of truth” for company statistics, viability, and decision-making.
  • Adhere to quality system procedures.
