KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the Finance Business Partner, Manufacturing in the development of business cases and financial modeling for capital projects
  • Complete scheduled financial reports for the Manufacturing leadership team, to support in assessment of businesses performance and identify risks and opportunities
  • Conduct consistent and reliable financial analysis of monthly performance results, identifying trends, variances and opportunities for improvement
  • Work with and support the Finance Business Partner, Manufacturing in the budgeting and forecasting processes

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business economics, accounting or comparable
  • Completion of a financial designation – i.e., CMA, CGA, CPA, etc.
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis and/or accounting
  • Curious, naturally analytical, motivated to learn and question the status-quo
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines, prioritizing competing deliverables and multi-tasking
  • Strong interpersonal skills capable of working closely with, negotiating with and influencing other staff at all levels within the business and Finance
  • Manufacturing industry experience is considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, Excel and data analysis
  • SAP or other ERP system experience an asset

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Financial Analyst, Manufacturing, based out of our Calgary MDF Manufacturing plant collects and analyzes financial information, providing reporting for Manufacturing Senior Leadership Team and Corporate Shared Services partners. They aid the Financial Analysis in all ad-hoc reporting requests and have some ownership in the monthly reporting, monthly forecasting and yearly budget cycles. This role focuses on financial activities within the manufacturing channel, with particular attention to the areas of management reporting, and facilitation of standardizing the process of models and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all stakeholders, including internal colleagues, members of the Operations Team and the Senior Management team
  • Provide assistance with stakeholder agreements and company accounting procedures in favor of continuous improvement
  • Evaluate financial risk; prepare financial forecasts, financing scenarios, analytical results and trends monthly. Participate in the preparation and coordination of operating and investment budgets and assist in the development of annual and long-range plans
  • Identify and actively drive the resolution of underlying procedural issues and process improvement opportunities
  • Assist in the development of processes and procedures to improve accuracy of the forecasts and rolling plans
  • Deliver support with respect to maintaining, controlling and improving company cost allocations and overhead
  • Ensure the business control environment is maintained and/or improved in a fit-for-purpose way and that all company-related Finance controls are executed accordingly
