POSITION SUMMARY
As a Financial Analyst - Operations in our Identification (ID) Systems group, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that our contracts meet their profitability objectives by analyzing and reporting on job performance and identifying and driving cost improvement opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Economics/Finance/Accounting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
- CPA certification is an asset (but not required)
- Knowledge of the following:
- Cost Accounting/Management accounting processes
- Variance analysis techniques
- 5 years of experience in estimating, financial planning and analysis, project management or related field
Technological Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft O365 (Advanced Excel)
- Proficiency with data visualization tools such as PowerBI is an asset but not required
- Familiarity with MS Dynamics is an asset but not required

Responsibilities:
Project Monitoring and Performance Analysis
Monitor project performance and report on it.
- Facilitate production of meaningful status reports for ongoing costs compared to budget to understand variances.
- Identify areas where profitability is impacted and work with teams to find an appropriate solution.
- Operational Support and Cost Management
- Identify and manage ‘Scope Creep’ and alert Business unit owners so that they can address it through customer dialogue.
- Review current projects to identify, analyze and implement cost saving opportunities.
- Business Development and Subject Matter Experts Support
- Assist Subject Matter Experts with preparing Investment Justifications.
- Work with Business Units to plan the approach to estimate/allocate costs to new systems which can be sold to multiple customers.
- Prepare for contract extensions through analyzing actual costs and identifying cost saving opportunities.
- Prepare for new bids/opportunities through analysis of comparable projects.
- Various Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Controller of Identification Systems with developing and monitoring Financial key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Analyze relationship between Project costs and estimates and propose improvements on both: estimates accuracy and performance to plan.
