Description:

The Adams Lake Indian Band is looking for an experienced Controller to work within our Finance team. The Controller provides senior level advice and guidance for Adams Lake Indian Band (ALIB) related to all financial activities under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The incumbent is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Band’s finances in conjunction with the Finance department. The Controller may be required to present and brief on information related to the financial affairs of the Band, and departments including but not limited to budgets, audits, and variances. This position supports the effective liaison and representation of ALIB with various Crown ministries, agents, stakeholders, advisors, and consultants in relation to the interests of the ALIB. In this position the Controller will also help address employee inquiries, concerns, and support the professional development of other members of ALIB as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Certified Professional Accountant (preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years accounting experience at a senior level, preferably within a Band/Business environment, with an appreciation of First Nations values.
  • Experience with computerized accounting and computer applications (eg. Adagio, Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet).
  • Proven practical management experience of a full finance department.
  • Able to read, interpret and comply with laws, regulations and other legal documents
  • pertaining to the Band.
  • Knowledge of change management, personnel management and administration practices.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication including report writing and presentations.
  • Problem solving & a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Commitment to and respect for the spirit and intent behind the rules and core values of the organization.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Acceptable criminal records check with results acceptable to ALIB
