Job Description

As Financial Controller, you have the opportunity to play a critical role in building the finance function of a cutting-edge business. This is the perfect role for someone looking for a varied and dynamic opportunity with huge potential for growth as we scale the business.

THE PROCES

First step: A 30 minute video call with Julia, our People Associate, to learn a bit more about you and what you are looking for!
Second step: A 45 minute video call with Luxia, Head of Operations and Jeffrey, Founders Associate.
Third step: In-person interview to meet the team and CEO, Jonathan Bea

Responsibilities:

  • Support the CEO on, and eventually own, financial modelling, forecasting and document preparation for fundraising activities
  • Work with functional leaders to create, manage and track budgets
  • Own the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead and continuously improve the month-end close process including balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payables and accounts receivables to support the company’s rapid growth
  • Prepare for and lead annual audit as key contact and manage the team for timely delivery
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and R&D tax credit claims
  • Manage tax and compliance, ensuring all statutory reporting deadlines are met (accounts, corporation tax, annual payroll-related returns, etc.)
  • Be a source of knowledge on technical matters and advise on accounting implications of current operations and future plans

What we think you will need to be successful:

  • Practise trained, qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification)
  • Strong experience with different accounting software (eg. Xero, SAGE etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Interest in learning about start-ups and working in investor-backed start-up/scale ups
  • Passionate about the state of the world and making a positive impact
