About the role
Our Economic Crime team have the new exciting opportunity to join them as in Internal Investigator.
This is an important role requiring an experienced, discreet professional who will deliver the activities of the Society’s internal investigations supporting the Whistleblowing function and wider business on misconduct incidents. Key responsibilities will include planning and conducting investigations, undertaking interviews, note-taking, collating evidence, and reporting impartial findings to line management including considerations on next steps, as well as identifying ‘lessons learnt’ and mitigating future risks. It also has responsibility for the monitoring, identification and investigation of system based internal fraud alerts
Representing the Society by establishing relationships with key industry stakeholders to ensure best practice and forecast/align to industry direction, will be key responsibilities. Acting confidently and making material differences to the Society’s fraud prevention and detection processes and systems will also be important.
As well as supporting with whistleblowing investigations, this role protects the Society by ensuring legislative compliance, acting with the utmost levels of both personal integrity and confidentiality whilst ensuring effective application of whistleblowing processes within legal and ethical boundaries, conducting intelligence and evidential processes.
The role also requires working and liaising with internal stakeholders up to Exec level, as well as supporting the greater Financial Crime team with fraud education.
About you
To be successful you’ll have strong experience of conducting and managing investigations to a successful conclusion, as well as a sound understanding of economic crime. Having excellent communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence others, including senior management and having difficult conversations, will be required.
You’ll already be working within a risk environment with a proven ability to respond to reported incidents effectively, identify and prioritise risks to enable effective operational delivery, ensuring adherence to deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Being a strong decision maker with high personal levels of integrity, the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and sensitivity will be incredibly important.
The ability to manage your own diary, plan your time effectively and use your own initiative and being proficient in MS Office including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint are key skills. Due to the nature of this role the ability to travel whilst being flexible to work on-site as well as remotely will be required, when needed.
