POSITION SUMMARY
Come join a collaborative and dynamic team as Financial Planning Analyst where you will be key in preparing the entire budgeting process and analysis for the college-wide budget submission, consolidation, and final presentation.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis you will be responsible to monitor, investigate and report quarterly financial results; prepare forecasts; assist with year-end closing and reporting, and the auditing of financial statements. You will collaborate with internal budget holders and stakeholders at all levels of the college to support the College’s overall strategic goals.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Four (4) year degree or equivalent, with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
- CPA designation or is currently a CPA Candidate
- Minimum three (3) years relevant financial planning, analysis and accounting experience
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Generally Accepted Account Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Workday Adaptive Planning software or other enterprise planning tool is considered an asset
- Possess strong communication (verbal/written) skills; ability to communicate complex and sensitive financial data with a non-financial audience
- High competency with large financial systems and data management
- Strong interpersonal and customer service orientation
- Strong understanding and commitment to learning the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to manage competing deadlines and changing priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

Responsibilities:
- Prepare the budget and forecast templates, planning assumptions, and estimate of preliminary revenue and expense budget targets
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of budget submission and resolve any outstanding issues
- Reconcile any inconsistencies and variances in the budget and forecast against targets
- Monitor, track and report actual results and variances, ensuring all revenues and expenditures are properly recognized and accounted in the period; identify savings, overspend and other potential issues
- Conduct various analysis using financial and non-financial data to support data driven decision making
- Use data analytics skills and tools to benchmark performance metrics and operational efficiency metrics internally and externally to identify areas for improvement
- Prepare quarterly financial statements and analysis, revenues and expense schedules, and provide detailed commentary to explain the results
- Assist in analysis and preparation of external reporting and year-end audit of the financial statements
- Provide financial advice and guidance to college budget holders
- Use data analytics tools to benchmark performance metrics and identify technological and operational process efficiencies
- Other duties as assigned
