Description:

ABOUT US

Oxfordshire County Council provides a wide range of services to local residents including adult and children’s social care, roads, waste disposal and recycling, fire and rescue and libraries.
To ensure that the council is sustainable in the medium term and be the best we can for our residents, we need to change how we do things. Through the ‘Delivering the Future Together’ transformation programme the council is currently undergoing significant changes with the aim of becoming an employer, place shaper and partner of choice.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant, with significant post qualification experience as well as good knowledge of local government financing.
We are looking for someone who is proactive and organised and able to communicate effectively in writing and in person. You’ll need to be able to lead and collaborate with the wider Finance team, including the Finance Business Partnering teams who provide support and advice to each of the council’s directorates, and to build and maintain strong relationships with senior managers and councillors.

Responsibilities:

Now is an exciting time to join the finance team, with a focus on data and intelligence, and the use of technology at the forefront of our outlook.
You will have a key role in planning, co-ordinating, communicating and managing the council’s budget & business planning process and financial reporting for the council.
You will be right in the middle of the decision making and work with the council’s senior leaders and councillors to develop and agree the budget and medium-term financial strategy.
The post is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience and make an impact through leading, collaborating, and managing the council’s budget & business planning and reporting process throughout the year.
