Description:

We are looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to play a critical role in the company’s year-end and half-year financial reporting processes. The role includes the preparation of the company’s year-end and half year accounts in compliance with relevant accounting standards, helping to ensure there is a smooth audit process and working to ensure there are adequate controls across the finance department. The role will also be involved in the collation of monthly financials to ensure timely and accurate information is reported across the business.
Whilst this role sits within the finance department, you will also be working with a number of different teams across the business, including the Regulation, Legal and External Communications teams in this high profile role.

KEY CAPABILITIES:

  • Qualified financial accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/CIMA).
  • Previous experience in a similar role or looking to move from practice.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and establish positive professional relationships across the organisation, able to adapt approach to achieve best outcomes.
  • A highly numerate and accurate individual, able to effectively apply good accounting practice.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, adapting communication style to influence individuals.
  • An effective team player, able to lead and perform a number of tasks simultaneously as part of a wider programme of work.
  • Proven experience working to tight deadlines.
  • Highly proficient IT skills with ability to use Microsoft Office applications and Oracle.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: With the support of the Financial Reporting and Control Manager, lead the preparation of year-end and half year accounts for Affinity Water Limited, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS/FRS101) and Companies Act requirements.
  • Corporate Reporting: Assist in the preparation of corporate reporting in the annual report and half year report for Affinity Water Limited, ensuring compliance with relevant corporate reporting requirements.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the preparation of data for our regulators, Ofwat.
  • Audit Coordination: Be the main day to day contact for the external auditors, ensuring the auditors are provided with accurate and relevant information to ensure sign off of the annual and interim accounts within the required time scales.
  • Management Accounts: Lead the collation and review of the monthly financials, including preparation of the monthly cash flow statement and review of the management information pack to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Journal Preparation and Approval: Prepare and review teams monthly and statutory journals as required.
  • Budget Coordination: Assist in the consolidation of the annual budget.
  • Coaching: Support and train a more junior member of the Financial Reporting team, who will be your direct report.
