Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role within the Financial Reporting & Control team reporting to the Financial Reporting & Control lead for the Ireland General Insurance (GI) business. The GI Ireland finance team are a small team and the successful candidate will gain invaluable exposure across all aspect of the finance function.
This role will work closely with the wider Aviva Group and offers excellent opportunities to interact with senior members of the team. The ideal candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop their knowledge. This position will suit a newly qualified financial reporting accountant who is energetic, self-motivated, shows good initiative and works well as part of a team. Having strong technical skills is advantageous.
Aviva uses “smart-working”, and you can be based anywhere commutable to our offices in Dublin Cherrywood or Galway Ballybrit. Our hybrid working model means you can enjoy working from home for part of the week and working from the office for the remainder of the week.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver monthly management accounts & reporting packs
  • Quarterly and Annual reporting under IFRS17 and Solvency II
  • Review annual Financial Statements
  • Responding to auditor queries in a comprehensive and timely manner
  • Enhance processes and procedures on an ongoing basis to ensure a strong control environment
  • Support the Risk and Control and Outsourcing deliverables
  • Supporting other teams (Actuarial/Tax/Investments/FP&A/Expenses etc) across the company
  • Ad-hoc tasks

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification in business/accountancy
  • Newly Qualified Financial Reporting Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Insurance experience is highly preferably
  • IFRS17 / Solvency II / technical accounting exposure and understanding an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Windows
  • Numeric skills -a strong aptitude for reviewing, assessing, and coherently presenting financial information
  • Ability to work under pressure within a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and targets
  • Self-motivated individual with drive, enthusiasm, and commitment
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and time management skills
