ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re seeking a talented Financial Reporting Lead to join our team in a newly created role as a contractor (possibility of permanent role).
You’ll leverage your financial reporting expertise to generate reports for month end and reporting insights that drive strategic decision-making across the company as we continue to grow in Australia and Globally. The main responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting Primary Responsibilities:

Month-End Closing Lead:

  • Manage the month-end closing process, ensuring all deadlines are met and information is accurate.
  • Reconcile all general ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Maintain Fixed Assets register and Capex.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement for all entities required.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Capex reporting v plan.
  • Quarterly BPC reporting.
  • Support the preparation of IPO-related financial documents and disclosures.

Tax Obligations:

  • Handle GST/BAS for both Australia and New Zealand.
  • Manage superannuation payments, PAYG, PAYE, and withheld taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with customs and other legal tax-related obligations in both countries.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Coordinate quarterly and annual external audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate internal audits as required.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for audit purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations, including IPO requirements.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Support the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow reporting.
  • Monitor and report on cash flow variances.

Bank Transactions:

  • Record daily bank transactions in the ERP.

Internal Controls:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance financial controls.

Financial Systems Management:

  • Maintain and optimize financial reporting systems and tools.
  • Work with IT to ensure system and data integrity.
  • Provide training to finance staff on the use of financial systems.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and assess their impact on the business.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations in both Australia and New Zealand.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training to finance team members on financial reporting standards and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reporting procedures and guidelines.

Backup Responsibilities:

  • Provide backup support for the Assistant Accountant as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Management Accountant on financial analysis and reporting projects.

Required Qualifications:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advance MS Excel user.
  • Experience with GST, superannuation, and payroll taxes in both Australia and New Zealand.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired

  • CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Netsuite/SAP experience.

Please note this role is based in our Brisbane office 3/4 days per week, we have a flexible work from home policy. At certain times though the calendar year around month end and quarterly reporting you will be required to be in the office for the full week

Responsibilities:

  • Provide backup support for the Assistant Accountant as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Management Accountant on financial analysis and reporting projects
