Description:
OVERVIEW
The Financial Reporting Manager will oversee the delivery of accounting services for Fund Operations clients, with a key focus on financial reporting.
This role will also lead a high performing team including Financial Accountants and Tax Accounts, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting deliverables and oversight of Mumbai Hub delivery.
EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- 5+ years previous experience within a fund accounting environment preferably with an administrator, custodian, fund manager, or auditing firm
- CA/CPA qualified
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with people at all levels of the organisation and build strong relationships and trust with clients and internal stakeholders
- Strong and extensive experience in the financial reporting process
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in staff management including performance management, recruitment, induction, setting KPIs, assigning tasks
- All around grasp of accounting standards and taxation affecting the managed funds industry
- Proactively responds and adapts to change – supports and influences strategies to enable business transformation and enhancement
- Strong leadership and client services skills
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities that lead to effective decision making and practical solutions
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate conflicting deadlines
- Attention to detail – ensure accuracy and efficiency of daily tasks and high personal standards in all work areas
- Ability to work effectively and partner with multi-regional teams and the broader organization towards shared goals and treats all colleagues and clients as partners
- Competent in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software quickly
- Prior experience with OneSource or any accounts preparation software is advantageous

Responsibilities:
Strategic Focus
- Oversee the timely and accurate financial reporting process for all retail and wholesale management investment funds and companies across 50+ entities from planning, execution, finalisation and debrief
- Review and seek continuous improvement opportunities to procedures with focus optimal efficiencies, costs savings and effective risk management
- Ensure task allocation of project work such as system implementations / upgrades
- Take ownership of the Transition Management and Client Onboarding activities and ensuring the effective and timely implementation of client change requests
Operational Management
- Oversight and responsibility of team’s ongoing deliverables.
- Review of distributable income calculations for managed investment funds and liaising with external tax parties, as required
- Review of BAS for managed investment funds
- Detailed review of distributable income calculations for management investment funds, and liaising with external tax parties
- Oversee the ICR calculation and reporting to clients
- Perform the ITR recut calculation
- Use continuous process improvement methodologies to achieve better operations processes
People Leadership
- Development and training of staff in accordance with operational objectives and core values of MUFG Corporate Markets, contributing to succession planning and individual career development of the staff
- Partner effectively with cross functional teams, including offshore counterparts, ensuring clear communication and alignment
- Staff Performance management – manage, resource, motivate, develop and support the continuing personal & professional development of all team members
- Work with team in training and guidance onshore and offshore
- Proactively seek development opportunities to foster and build strong and agile teams, both locally and in India
- Prepare and present training on specific financial reporting topics
Governance & Risk
- Review of financial statements and related statutory accounts workpapers in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Detailed review of unit prices for managed investment funds, private equity funds and listed investment companies
- Prepare the IAS reports and submission
- Research and analyse legislative requirements and changes, update policy documents, checklists, templates, and procedures
- Adopt a risk management culture, and effectively limit risk exposure to MUFG Corporate Markets with strategies to mitigate risk
