Position Purpose and Summary
The Financial Systems Analyst advances financial systems and operations by leading the enterprise application lifecycle, including coordination with user groups to identify solutions that improve business processes, implementing process and system changes, training, system maintenance and other client-focused activities. This position is expected to have advanced knowledge of the enterprise-level software used within the university. This position manages various financial systems in collaboration with other IT systems analysts, acting as a bridge between technical teams and business teams to ensure technology solutions serve the mission and vision of Trinity Western University.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide technical leadership for key financial administrative systems, including support for Financial ERP modules in Jenzabar EX/J1 and supporting systems (reporting tools, subledgers, payment platforms).
  • Analyze current processes and recommends improvements, and best practices that lead to the best use of various administrative systems, with a strong focus on automation and vendor-supported platforms.
  • Provide day-to-day support, maintenance and troubleshooting for financial systems.
  • Leads system upgrades including project management activities, installations, testing, user training, QA, department acceptance and support.
  • Facilitate user account access and application security.
  • Works directly with key clients and application owners in Finance, Office of the Registrar and ancillary services teams.
  • Works with the System Administrators, Software Developers and Service Hub team to plan and coordinate all support needed to provide 24x7 uptime for critical applications.
  • Analyze user requirements, design, write, test, debug, and document systems, scripts, queries and procedures necessary to meet user requirements.
  • Create end-user and technical documentation for internal and external use.
  • Supervise external consultants and project staff where appropriate on special projects to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Standards & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems, Computing Science, or a relevant discipline preferred.
Experience: Experience working with Financial business systems and accounting practices. IT/Systems background required with exposure to standard IT processes and project life-cycle. Experience with relational databases, data standards and schemas. Experience working in a managed project environment.
