About the role

The role will include but not be limited to:

  • Building Code of Australia assessments, based on drawing review and site inspections
  • Preparation of fee proposals
  • Preparation of fire engineering performance based design solutions, for new and existing buildings, utilising: Qualitative and quantitative egress assessments, qualitative and quantitative fire and smoke spread assessments, radiant heat calculations
  • Performing computer modelling of fire and smoke using Fire Dynamics Simulator (NIST)
  • Performing computer modelling of occupant emergency evacuation using spreadsheet calculations, Simulex, Evacnet, Pathfinder, and similar evacuation models
  • Assessing structural systems exposed to fire through computational methods outlined in standards, research papers and proprietary software programs
  • Attend site inspections and meetings with clients, project managers, design teams and approval authorities
  • Provide and attend in-house and external technical sessions and seminars;
  • Coordinating with clients, consultants and enforcing agencies in relation to fire safety aspects of projects
  • Maintaining organized project information and clear understanding of project tasks/schedule

Minimum 2 years and Undergraduate or Masters qualification in Fire Safety / Protection Engineering
