Description:
MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must have certification for the following:
- Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations
- Fire Fighter I and II
- Airport Fire Fighter
- Must possess a National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR)
- Must possess a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) BASIC level or above.
- Must be physically fit, present a neat appearance, and maintain safety-related grooming standards.
- Minimum of one year experience at that duty position.
- Training must be accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualification System (NPQS). IFSAC or NPQS seals on the training certificates provide evidence of IFSAC or NPQS accreditation or foreign nation equivalent.
- Shall have and maintain a current CPR card issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
- Ability to read and write English is required.
- Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country and could obtain a work visa.
- Must have pass an entry-level physical examination in accordance with NFPA 1582 within the past 12 months.
- Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
- Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Fire Fighter’s primary responsibility is to respond to emergencies in order to protect lives and property on a military base. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform fire suppression, rescue, and prevention activities as directed by Lead Fire Fighter (Crew Chief) to ensure adequate response and minimize loss of life and property.
- Exercise caution to avoid damage or loss of property including injury to self and others.
- Identify, protect, and report evidence indicating cause of fire, especially during salvage and overhaul operations.

- May also perform related duties and functions such as Alarm Center Operator, fire hose testing, pre-fire planning, station maintenance, fire extinguisher/fire alarm and fire systems inspections and testing, fire apparatus pump tests, and vehicle equipment maintenance.
- Ensure responses to alarms and conduct of operations are accomplished with maximum safety and professionalism.
