Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Roster: 8 Days on, 6 Days on Flying on Thursdays
Site: Telfer Operations- Gold and Copper Operations located in the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia.
We are seeking Fire Systems Technician to support safe operation and maintenance of our site wide Fire Systems including: Fire Detection & Alarm Systems, Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems, Fire Sprinkler Systems, PEFS, Extinguishers, Hydrants, Hose Reels, and Fire Blankets.

Other Role Accountabilities:

  • Maintenance of equipment in a reliable and cost-efficient condition
  • Leading by example in adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Monitoring and reporting on status of Fire Systems and equipment, and ensuring statutory paperwork is kept to a high standard
  • Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
  • Provide guidance to other fire technicians short & long term
  • Maintain good working relationships with Superiors, Peers, Subordinates, Contractors, Suppliers, and Service Providers.

To succeed in this role, you will be a proactive team member with strong work ethics and a passion for continuous improvement. We are also searching for an individual who has sharp problem-solving and decision-making abilities, along with this you will possess:

  • Proven experience in maintenance, commissioning, inspection or testing of fire of fire systems with exposure to large scale mining and process plant operations & maintenance
  • Good computer skills – proficient in SAP or similar computerised maintenance management system and Microsoft package
  • Sound knowledge of Acts, Regulations and Australian Standards
  • Sprinkler Fitter Trade, Electrical or Mechanical Trade qualification will be highly regarded
  • Willingness and the ability to work underground
  • Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Tagging
  • High commitment to safety along with excellent decision making and delegation skills
  • Computer literacy and understanding of SAP will be beneficial
  • Current C Class drivers’ licenc
