POSITION SUMMARY

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about quality, and who can handle a fast-paced, rapid delivery environment, to help with our mission. Firmware QA Analyst is a hands-on role focused on ensuring the quality of our state-of-the-art traffic operations products. You’ll work closely with the development team and the QA lead to validate releases and advance our testing processes. This Role will be a hybrid role with some work from home and some in office, based out of our Kitchener, Ontario headquarters.
Initiative and autonomy are key skills at Miovision. On a given day you might examine requirements for upcoming features, exercise changes in a pre-prod environment, perform exploratory testing, or search out how to reproduce a customer-facing issue. The person we’re looking for won’t wait for tasks to be assigned,and does not shy away from interfacing with multiple teams.
If you are someone who has a high interest in learning on the job, multiple years of experience with Firmware/software testing practices, comfortable writing test cases, a comfort level testing with and around hardware devices, and enjoys working embedded on a collaborative and fun team, you might be the right person for the job.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Hands on automated testing of products to ensure that they meet our functional and quality standards
  • Development of automated and manual test cases, testing best practices, verification planning and test configurations
  • Enable fast iteration through build, test, and deployment
  • Influence the future by proposing new testing processes
  • Review requirements and provide meaningful feedback from initial design phase to production

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in firmware/software QA
  • Ability to debug failed test cases and help narrow down where the bug resides (eg: hardware, firmware, software)
  • Experience and a comfortable working with hardware devices
  • Ensuring functionality and quality standards are met
  • Experience with Linux and Python
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Experience writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Experience identifying, recording, documenting and tracking bugs
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Tenacious and inquisitive; ability to solve open-ended problems
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal English
