Responsibilities:

As the First Nations Officer, you will serve as the primary liaison between Ausgrid and First Nations communities, ensuring that our projects, policies, and initiatives are developed and implemented with respect, understanding, and acknowledgment of Indigenous cultures, rights, and perspectives. You will foster open, respectful, and productive dialogue while ensuring all program activities prioritise cultural sensitivity and reflect community aspirations. This role demands a deep knowledge of First Nations histories, cultures, and contemporary issues, along with experience in engagement, consultation, and partnership building with Indigenous communities.

  • Lead and facilitate engagement sessions with First Nations communities and businesses to gather insights, feedback, and guidance. Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Indigenous leaders, organisations, and community members.
  • Provide expert advice and support to project teams, ensuring that First Nations perspectives and knowledge are incorporated into project planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Manage and champion a consistent and ‘beyond-compliance’ approach to delivering outcomes for First Nations during all land management activities.
  • Prepare and review engagement materials, including slide packs, information papers, fact sheets and other collateral for meetings with First Nations communities.
