Description:
The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is currently seeking a motivated and talented Fiscal Monitor. This job is an opportunity to work for an agency that strives to make a difference for the students of Utah every day.
A Fiscal Monitor performs the work involved in collecting, examining, maintaining and reporting of financial information to ensure compliance with all applicable federal agency regulations, Utah state laws and Utah State Board of Education (USBE) administrative rules for different Federal and State programs.
The Fiscal Monitor positions may be filled at a level II, a level III or a level IV.
Responsibilities:
As a Fiscal Monitor, you will interact with program specialists at USBE, various local educational agencies (LEA), and third party service providers. The responsibilities include preparing summaries and reports, providing training and support services, conducting risk assessments, and making recommendations for improvement or corrective actions as appropriate. Other duties include:
- Conducting fiscal monitoring activities (i.e., analyzing program funding information; collecting financial records; performing office reviews; identifying potential compliance issues; scheduling site visits with LEAs, public charter schools and third party service providers; inspecting fiscal operations; preparing written reports; and making recommendations based on findings).
- Determining the nature, scope and direction of financial examinations to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state requirements and USBE internal policies and procedures. Investigating inquiries of LEA, public charter school and third party service provider records and accounts.
- Preparing, compiling and writing fiscal monitoring summary reports. Assisting in the interpretation of data and protects the confidentiality of materials and records when sharing any such information within applicable legal confines.
- Delivering training and support to LEAs, public charter schools and third party service providers in order to prepare for potential audits.
- Displaying the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with schools, agencies and administrators and serves as a role model for school staff and personnel in creating and further developing a strong culture of compliance.
