Description:

We are looking for 5 skilled Fitter Welder Turners/Machinists to precisely fabricate, assemble, weld, and machine metal components. The ideal candidates will have extensive experience in welding and machining, as well as the capability to operate turning machinery and interpret technical specifications accurately.

Tasks include:

  • Fits, assembles, grinds, shapes and welds metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.
  • Fabricates and repairs metal products, machinery and components using various welding techniques, using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in multiple positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
  • Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
  • Operating computer-controlled production plant
  • Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings. Setting guides, stops, and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses.
  • Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment.
  • Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
  • Forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal.
  • May erect machines and equipment on-site.Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

    • Work closely with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions effectively.

Person Specification

  • With NZQA Level 4 qualification or higher or at least three years of relevant experience
  • Be willing to undergo occasional drug tests while employed
  • Be flexible with work hours
  • Have NZ residency, citizenship or valid NZ work visa

The successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in different locations (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland), providing a unique chance to explore New Zealand’s diverse regions.
The pay rate starts from $29.66 to $32.00 per hour, depending on skills and qualifications.
Regular work hours are 30 hours per week.
