Description:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is specialized skilled technical work supporting fleet management in applying Microsoft Excel Intermediate applications to support business initiatives managing, procuring, and disposing of various types of City vehicles, heavy equipment, and other assets. This position will have ongoing interaction with the Purchasing Department for the timely procurement and delivery of approved vehicles and equipment. This position will report to the Fleet Manager.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of various heavy and light duty vehicles and equipment in order to identify major components and their function.
- Knowledge of governmental procurement procedures.
- Knowledge of departmental accounting methods and procedures.
- Ability to interpret market prices or trends, as it relates to vehicle and equipment acquisition and disposition.
- Skilled in the use of small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Skilled in using computers for data entry.
- Ability to prepare, manipulate and interpret advanced spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to organize and communicate effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret a variety of vendor catalogs, order vehicles and equipment within established procedures.
- Ability to use computer software (Word, Excel, etc.) and enter data accurately from a wide variety of source documents.
- Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other employees, and the public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in Business or Public Administration.
- Two (2) years of work experience in fleet operations and asset management and procurement.
(A comparable amount of relevant training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)
EMERGENCY RESPONSE RESPONSIBILITY
Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
