Description:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our clients Civil Engineering company. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring our fleet of lorries remains in optimal working condition, performing routine inspections, servicing, and repairs. This includes MOT preparation, clutch replacements, gearbox repairs, and addressing any other mechanical issues that arise.

While the role does not require the candidate to take on learning additional skills, the opportunity to grow within the role is available for those who are interested.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, specifically with lorries or heavy goods vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, clutches, and other vehicle components.
  • Familiarity with MOT prep and understanding of roadworthiness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence is a plus but not required).
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills on the job.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of the fleet to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and comply with regulations.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOTs, including any necessary repairs and documentation.
  • Perform routine servicing and maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, and tyre checks.
  • Carry out mechanical repairs, including clutch replacements, gearbox repairs, and engine diagnostics.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with a variety of vehicle components and systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work carried out on each vehicle.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure the smooth running of the fleet.
  • Take part in ongoing training (if desired) to learn more about the equipment operated in the fleet.
