Salary: The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: MoveUp Group 12, MIN $7,668.00 – 8,267/Monthly determined by education and experience*
  • Salary Scale range: MoveUp Group 12, MIN $7,668.00 - MAX $9,199.00/Monthly is available through annual general wage increases
  • In exceptional cases, candidates may be hired above the recruitment range, provided agreement is reached with the Union.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING…

As a member of the Fleet Management team this role will be involved in providing engineering, technical guidance and analysis pertaining to fleet performance, modifications, environmental impact and sustainability related to BC Transit’s fleet assets.
You will have the opportunity to supports the Fleet Technical Specification program for fleet procurements through the management of specification and fleet standards documentation. Ongoing responsibilities within this program include document management, stakeholder engagement, change requests and approvals, and maintaining a revision history.
You will also support Fleet Procurement, Retrofit and ITS Integration projects with Quality Assurance planning through the management of contractor adherence to the Fleet Technical Specifications and standards. This includes planning Validation and Performance Testing, and non-conformance issue management as part of Build Quality Inspections. In other words, you ensure our manufacturers build our buses as ordered to facilitate acceptance with our Operators & Customers.
Occasional travel is required to various locations, both inside and outside the province of BC. In-province and out-of-province travel may be required for up to 10% of the time.

We value lifelong learners and have found that a mix of any of the following credentials have set people up for success in this role in the past:

  • Be registered or be eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as an engineer-in-training (EIT) or professional engineer (P.Eng).
  • Those not yet registered with EGBC, must be registered within six (6) months
  • A university degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • Demonstrated experience with fleet management or the transportation sector, or equivalent combination of education and experience
