Description:

GFL Environmental is looking for a Fleet Supervisor to join our team in Delta, BC!

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Journeyman/Red Seal and Millwright experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in leading a team is desirable but not required.
  • One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on commercial vehicles and mobile/stationary heavy equipment.
  • Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of company fleet assets.
  • Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
  • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity. Follow up on repairs being made, perform repairs as needed and appraise performance of shop personnel.
  • Review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedule (including preventative maintenance requirements).
  • Assist with inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget.
  • Review and approve expenses that are within approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to Fleet Operations Manager.
  • Complete required record keeping associated with repairing vehicles and mobile/stationary equipment , documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Review, plan and schedule work as required.
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and provide training to complete their apprenticeship program.
  • Conduct daily shop huddles and fleet walks.
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools in safe operating condition.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling.
  • Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
  • Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds
