Description:
GFL Environmental is looking for a Fleet Supervisor to join our team in Delta, BC!
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Journeyman/Red Seal and Millwright experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience in leading a team is desirable but not required.
- One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on commercial vehicles and mobile/stationary heavy equipment.
- Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of company fleet assets.
- Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
- Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity. Follow up on repairs being made, perform repairs as needed and appraise performance of shop personnel.
- Review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedule (including preventative maintenance requirements).
- Assist with inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget.
- Review and approve expenses that are within approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to Fleet Operations Manager.
- Complete required record keeping associated with repairing vehicles and mobile/stationary equipment , documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Review, plan and schedule work as required.
- Mentor apprentice technicians and provide training to complete their apprenticeship program.
- Conduct daily shop huddles and fleet walks.
- Ensure shop equipment and tools in safe operating condition.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling.
- Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
- Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds
