Description:

We have an exciting position available for an experienced Fleet Workshop Manager to join as a Band 6.
The post holder is responsible for the effective control and line management of Vehicle Technicians, materials and stocks, buildings, vehicles and equipment, and for the provision of a high quality service for the maintenance, service and repair of all Trust owned and leased vehicles, plant and equipment. Liaising with other departments in providing a maintenance and repair function that will support the operations directorate in keeping the vehicle fleet on the road and meeting statutory legal requirements e.g. dealing with Police, Manufacturers, suppliers, dealers, external customers and recovery agents.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the repair and maintenance within their area of responsibility operating a variety of shifts within the Trust’s workshops. Planning servicing, inspections and repairs to a fleet of vehicles in line with current Trust servicing guidelines
Provide one to one coaching and training of staff (face-to-face) in new systems, processes and complete technical items
Maintain a close liaison with the Area Workshop Manager to keep him/her informed of anything that may affect the running of the department
Ensure all Vehicle Technicians complete their paperwork correctly i.e. that all spare parts used are booked out, that all time spent on jobs is recorded on the job card and that work codes are recorded correctly.
Manage and maintain the Fleet Management computer system that holds electronic vehicle records and use this to run reports, service schedules, etc. when required
Supervise, plan and schedule work to give an even flow of work through the workshop, ensuring all staff have enough work at all times making sure this balances with Operational requirements
Diagnose vehicle faults using state of the art computer diagnostic tools i.e. Mercedes Star and the correct reading of diagnostic fault codes
Use and direct others to use safe working methods and ensure work is carried out to the highest quality standards and within manufacturer’s and ICME vehicle repair times.
