Description:
Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a talented Fluid and Thermal Senior engineer to help us in our mission by contributing to the development, justification and validation of our vehicle. As Thermal Engineer, you will be in charge of the thermal design definition and justification of the vehicles.
You will work closely with our mechanical, aerodynamics and CAD engineers to optimize together the vehicle design and performance. You will be part of the Vehicle Design Team and will report to the Principal Thermal Engineer and the Vehicle Design Lead. You will work in close collaboration with Avionics, Design and AIT teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in , aerospace engineering, heat transfer and fluid mechanics, or another related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working in aerospace vehicle thermal design
- Deep knowledge of thermal management and active thermal control system
- Strong knowledge in Thermal and fluid analysis
- Experience with programming (Python, Fortran, Matlab…)
- Experience with several thermal software (Thermal Desktop, ESATAN) is strongly appreciated
- Experience with CFD (Fluent or equivalent) is a plus
- Fluent in English. German, French and Italian are an asset

Responsibilities:
In your capacity as a Space Vehicle Fluid and Thermal Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:
- Own the design and development of the thermal control system and components for our vehicle NyxEarth
- To provide technical solutions on optimizing the design and the spacecraft thermal management, in collaboration with other subsystems (propulsion, avionics, design…)
- To define the accommodation of the thermal control system into the overall vehicle architecture
- To determine the thermal load cases through the entire system lifecycle
- To generate the thermal and fluids models, with the right level of complexity depending on the maturity and the goals of the study
- To specify and down select components, such as sensors, pumps, valves, piping, and provide detailed specification for their purchase
- To contribute to co-engineering sessions with suppliers to ensure the technical consistency
- To prepare and carry out the test campaigns: test plan definition, support to assembly, conducting the tests, exploitation for simulation comparison and calibration
- To contribute to the creation and improvement of the thermal analysis tools
- To effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data
- To prepare the technical documentation and participate to reviews of designed systems
