Description:
Job Description:
We are currently searching for a Fluid Dynamics Technical Specialist in our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver office. This individual will support the continued services we provide, including:
- Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis: Using CFD analysis to provide practical solutions to meet client expectations and communicating analysis results to a wide-ranging audience. This often involves simulation of single-phase flow to predict and adjust flow field behaviour but also involve multi-phase flow analysis as well as multi-species mixing analyses. Typical project CFD analyses include flow conditioning applications, open channel flow, chemical mixing systems, reservoir mixing, and non-Newtonian flow.
- Hydraulic transient analysis (HTA): Using hydraulic transient analysis tools to predict hydraulic transient system response and to develop mitigation strategies. Analysis results must be effectively communicated to a broad audience.
- General pumping and piping system hydraulics: Provide analysis support to design staff. This could include analysis of piping/pipeline systems, pumping systems and system control strategies.
The successful candidate will work with our project teams to develop solutions while applying their knowledge, skills and experience. The ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to internal and external project teams is critical. In addition, you will tutor and provide oversight to junior/intermediate analysts and prepare proposals. This position provides leadership and assists in setting priorities for the discipline including reviewing and advising on design criteria, design concepts, technical approaches and technical quality of work performed by design staff.
What we offer:
- A flexible work environment that allows for a combination of working from home and in the office.
- Competitive salary and benefits, including a fitness allowance, company-matching pension program, and a parental leave top-up program.
- Ongoing support for your growth and development, including a formal Professional Development program, mentoring programs, training opportunities, professional designation support and a Young Professionals Group.
- An active Social Club that promotes social activities in and outside the office.
- This position is available across Canada through the many locations where Associated has offices.
Job Requirements:
What you will bring:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, mathematics, physics).
- Registered as a Professional Engineer.
- 10+ years of industry experience working in the field of Advanced Hydraulics.
- In-depth understanding of analytical techniques, current applications and trends, and how they could be applied in a consulting engineering environment.
- Proficiency in CFD software tools.
- Experience with HTA software is considered an asset.
- Exceptional analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with diverse teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Understanding of client service client needs.
