This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin’s mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. As the Fluids Test Engineer, you will develop, manage, and execute test plans and procedures as part of the Lunar Permanence team. You will have ownership of fluids and vacuum systems for ground support equipment and testing of space vehicle fluids systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of ground systems testing for developmental and flight asset testing. You will develop test methods, ground support equipment, and test procedures to efficiently complete integrated system testing for multiple test campaigns. You will coordinate and direct test crews and ground support equipment while supervising a small team of technicians during test setups, checkouts, and tear-downs.

Responsibilities:

  • Write test plans and test procedures for fluid components, including development, and environmental qualification and acceptance campaigns
  • Assist in support equipment design, budgeting, procurement, verification, and integration
  • Maintain fluids test equipment configuration control, calibration, and traceability
  • Participate in gated design and test readiness reviews
  • Maintain and operate pneumatic and cryogenic hardware and/or control software
  • Follow safety policies during test planning and operations
  • Troubleshoot anomalies real-time
  • Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, civil engineering or related field
  • 0+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with pressurized equipment; developing, writing, and executing test procedures for servicing or leak-checking GN2 systems
  • Experience reading P&ID schematics/layout designs
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cryogenic and GHe test capabilities, including design, fabrication, installation, and operation.
  • Experience with component testing of spaceflight hardware through the development, qualification, and acceptance of test campaigns
  • Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems
  • Familiarity with cleanroom work and its associated best practices
  • Proficiency in LabView, Python, MATLAB

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $81,090.00-$113,526.00
