JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Full Time Food and Beverage Assistant
Property Oriel House Hotel
Responsible To: Food and Beverage Manager, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager

To have total product knowledge of all the property’s services and facilities, and total awareness of the product offering of the Talbot Collection as a whole;

  • To carefully read and adhere to company policies and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook;
  • To be present and punctual for all in-house/external training programs as requested;
  • To adhere to all fire, safety and hygiene regulations and to comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005;
  • To take a proactive involvement in Health and Safety, ensuring to report and where possible take action on incidents, accidents or damage in the Hotel. Proactively bring any suggestions or ideas to management’s attention;
  • To be proactive in maintaining energy efficiency in the property particularly in terms of electricity, water and waste. Proactively bring any suggestions or ideas to managements attention;
  • To comply with all policies, procedures and memo’s of the Collection;
  • Any other sundry task not mentioned but within scope of the job

Responsibilities:

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

To provide a friendly and efficient service within the food and beverage areas. Dispensing orders accurately and with courtesy to the standards required by the company. To ensure the cleanliness, correct mis-en-place and set up of the waiting areas prior to service. Also ensuring the guests are warmly greeted; orders are taken efficiently and served to a high standard to ensure guest satisfaction.

ROLE SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • To arrive for work on time and in proper uniform
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming
  • To clock in/out adhering to the Company Clocking Policy
  • To ensure that the bar/restaurant/ banquets areas are always kept clean
  • Responsible for the efficient dispensing and serving of drinks and food when required
  • To be aware of menu items of the day and drink services
  • To serve alcohol responsibly

    To always deliver exceptional friendly service, to every guest, in line with the Talbot Collection ‘Empower Your Excellence’ customer service program

  • To adhere to all Fire, Safety and Hygiene regulations and to comply with the Health and Safety at work act 2005 as detailed in your staff handbook

  • To familiarise and adhere to Company Policies and procedures as outlined in your staff handbook
  • To familiarise yourself and to carry out duties laid out in the departmental SOPs
  • To ensure that necessary steps are taken to safeguard Company money, goods and assets
  • To deal with customer complaints in an efficient and professional manner and to notify Management of these
  • To upsell the Company products and services where possible
  • To ensure that the waiting areas are fully prepared for service
  • To ensure that all food and drinks are served efficiently with minimum delay
  • To liaise closely with the kitchen
  • To ensure all orders are taken accurately
  • To anticipate any guest needs at all times
  • Assist in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our guests

    Meet and greet guests on arrival
    Ensure that guests are seated and provided with menus promptly
    Ensure that all guests’ requests and queries are responded to promptly and effectively and an exceptional service is always delivered to guests
    Be familiar with the Bar menu and as much information about the food and beverage offering available to answer any questions guests may have
    Take food and beverage orders and ensure that orders are communicated to the kitchen and bar promptly and accurately
    Ensure an efficient and safe delivery of all food and beverage orders in line with guest expectations ensuring an exceptional level of service is always maintained
    Ensure that all food and beverage orders are imputed in the tills and are being charged correctly
    To ensure there are no open checks at the end of the shift
    Set up, clear and promptly service tables after use to ensure that guests can be seated in a timely manner
    Clean and sanitize tables and countertops after each guest

To be professional, respectful, polite, friendly, and unfailingly helpful in all your dealings with guests and colleagues alike, recognising that you are an ‘ambassador’ of the Talbot Collection at all times;
